From modest solo practitioner beginnings in 2010, Active Architecture is on a journey through discovery and growth, towards a cumulative understanding of how Architecture can accommodate both the needs and conveniences of people and modern day living, and the increasingly urgent requirement to reduce it’s impact on the environment.

Michael Bennington NZCAD LBP2
Michael has been involved in the New Zealand architectural industry for 27 years. His experience ranges from domestic renovations and new builds through to industrial and low level commercial buildings to commercial interiors.
Michael is keenly interested in sustainable practices and currently exploring mass timber construction techniques as an alternative to traditional stick framing construction.
Michael currently holds a Licensed Building Practitioner Design 2 license and is undertaking the NZRAB registration process to achieve practicing Registered Architect
